Olinuxino on-board charging circuitry question

Can I connect a "naked" 3.7V 8000mAh LiPo battery to A13 Olinuxino WiFi socket and expect it to take care of all charging protection and such?

Typically Lithium Polymer battery includes a built-in protection against over voltage, over current, and minimum voltage. But what if it does NOT have it - can I assume that an on-board AXP209 will take good care to charge AND protect it properly?
