Moving to Linux kernel 3.x on olinuxino

I'm considering moving to Linux kernel 3.x on olinuxino board.

What would I gain by going to new kernel compared to 2.6.35?
What were your reasons for using 3.x?
What are the experiences, issues, improvements, etc. if you moved from old to new kernel?
