Hi

I use ESP8266 without module, with a personal board. I have already flash the ESP8266 with the Olimex module with linux environment : https://www.olimex.com/Products/IoT/MOD ... e-hardware. My schematic is the same schematic that olimex module, but i bought ESP8266 with TME Distributor, only the chip without module.

With this chip, UART FLASH doesn't work, feature around this one is deactivated (deactivated internal pull-up on TX / RX, quartz excitation is deactivated,...). Measures are different compared to olimex module.

I think that the ESP8266 is not pre-programmed at the exit of the factory. Maybe Olimex pre-programs ESP8266 in JTAG, so UART user programming can work

I would to make sure of this and to know if a boot loader existing for user.

Thank you for your answer

Hey,

All Olimex-made ESP8266 boards come with UART bootloader working.

Our code examples for ESP8266 doesn't affect the bootloader of the unit.

Double-check if you are properly entering UART mode. Some boards (like MOD-WIFI-ESP8266 and MOD-WIFI-ESP8266-DEV) require the change of hardware PTH jumpers.

For the bigger Olimex-made ESP8266 boards (like ESP8266-EVB and ESP8266-EVB-BAT-BOX), you can just switch to UART mode by a button press and you can even use Arduino IDE as explained here: https://www.olimex.com/Products/IoT/ESP8266-EVB/resources/ESP8266-EVB-how-to-use-Arduino.pdf.
