android SD partioning for 8GB SD

I put a blank 8GB SD in after  booting into Android.
it seems it creates an 2.6 GB partition then extsd for the rest.
however the partition(drive) size, as reported through the Debug USB, is the original size for the SD for the extsd partition(second drive).
also the debug USB reports third partition(drive) that can not be accessed
