Making my own OS thing

I would like to make my own os thing for the duinomite but I would like to use the video/core files from the DMbasic code; how would I remove the mmbasic stuff leaving me with a shell consisting of keyboard routines and a video library?

I don't know how to use them, sorry if this sounds arrogant of me.
I downloaded them but I'm not sure how I could create my own project and use the existing video library.
I know some C but this would be my first microcontroller project with c so everything is a little new.

Sounds like a hard place to start from with so little knowledge of C and so on.  Maybe get Lucio Di Jasio's book which covers a lot of the details.  ISBN 978-0-7506-8709-6
