A13 SFTP error message (a popular error message)

After entering #sftp username@ftp.myserver.com or #sftp username@myserver.com
I get the following error message:

ssh: connect to host myserver.com port 22: Connection timed out
Couldn't read packet: Connection reset by peer

My /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname files read as follows:

File - /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1     localhost   debian
IPAddress     ftp.domaimname.com

File - /etc/hostname
debian

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
