mount A20 soc on the bottom of the PCB for easyer cooling?

Hi All,

I have the 20-OLinuXino-MICRO. It works OK, but the soc gets warm. To solve this, I have placed a tall heat sink on it, and mounted it up-side-down in my metal case. I placed a patch of thermal interface silicone rubber between the case and the heat sink. Now all the heat from the soc flows to the cool underside of the case.

For me it would have been more easy if the soc would be on the bottom side of the PCB. Then I could have just place the silicone on the bottom, and place the PCB on top of that. Then all the connectors would have been better accessible.

I don't have much experience in mass-producing PCB's. Would this increase the cost of the PCB? The PCB already has SMD components on both sides of the board.
