After the release of RPI2 and many other low cost quad core boards it is time for a more powerful LIME. Here is my suggestion:
H3-OLinuXino-LIME
AllWinner H3 SoC:

  • quad core Cortex A7 @1.6GHz + Mali400MP2 @600MHz, 28 nm
  • 1000Mbit Ethernet MAC + Fast Ethernet PHY
  • 4K HEVC (H.265) decoding
  • price ~$6
1 GB RAM (2x512 MB) DDR3
HDMI, 4 USB 2.0 ports, RJ45, battery connector, UEXT, etc...
LIME form factor
price - up to 45-50 EUR

I believe your biggest competitor will be OrangePi2 then:

http://www.orangepi.org/orangepi2/
https://linux-sunxi.org/Xunlong_Orange_Pi_2

They have dropped prices and now go for 30USD for H3 + 1GB RAM + Wifi and 25USD without the wifi (OrangePi2 mini version).

There should be a PDF shematic on their site.

Also think about adding more USB port, theirs has 4, RPi has 4, etc. but LIMEs have only 2.

Could integrating ESP8266 onboard give good conection speeds or is it just for slow IoT devices?

Also, the holes (screw holes or holding holes for support) don't exist in the LIMES.

Moreover, the headers pitch is too small.

Have you had any complaints about holes and headers pitch?

I believe there are 2 mounting holes on each of the LIMEs.

About the pitch - many have compalined, but that was a design decision so you can have literaly all the GPIOs of the processor at your disposal, not just a select 20-30-40.
