A13-OLinuXino with Android Microphone record issue

I am currently working on a project that requires me to record audio into an Android Application, and am using the A13-OlinuXino board for the same. I have an audio source plugged into the microphone port of the Olimex board. I have tried to run the app I have that records audio, but as soon as the record operation is supposed to begin, the entire board just freezes, and I can't even shut down the app or the board. I can only proceed by resetting the board. Initial tests of the same app were been carried out on different mobile devices, so the possibility of the app being a problem can be ruled out. And moreover, the same reaction is observed while using the Android provided recording app, so it seems to be a general issue with respect to the use of the microphone on the board. What exactly could be the problem here and how will I be able to solve it?
