Dead board? LIME2

Not sure if I have a dead board. It's LIME2 without any NAND chip. Here are the steps I took:

1) I downloaded a20-lime2_mainline_uboot_GMAC_master_sunxi_kernel_3.4.103_jessie_NAND_rel_6.img.7z
2) Unpacked with 7za e
3) Wrote the .img to an 8gb SD card
4) Plugged the SD card into the SD card slot on the LIME2.
5) Plugged a 5v power supply to the LIME2.

The result I get is that a red LED near the power barrel jack connector turns on, but no other LEDs activate. Also, there is no output on HDMI (waited over 10mins).

Did I miss something, or should I send back by board as defective?

You could try FEL in its various forms e.g. FEL boot.

I have the same problem with a LIME board, and FEL doesn't appear to work. Written FEL SD image to a micro SD card and tried to boot from it, but the USB device isn't recognized (Linux Mint 18 Sarah), or at least doesn't show up with the lsusb command.

It looks like:

- improperly prepared microSD card (improperly written image); try again use a different software
- dead card; try another card
- insufficient power supply; try better power supply
