My bad about the size of the image - indeed you are correct, it is 2GB of size. Sorry about that.

It might be a hardware problem with the MicroSD connector or the soldering at the back of the connector. Probably, the card detect pin got disconnected somehow. The hardware connections at the back of the microSD card connector are not easy to repair, so unless you are very good in soldering or you have a fried that is very good at soldering, I would NOT recommend attempting to repair it alone. It would be a better idea to send the board back.

Drop an e-mail at support@olimex.com and request warranty repair or replacement, make sure to include a link this forum thread in your e-mai (so we know that this case was already looked into and not repeat all basics again).
