Hello folks,

I own several OLIMEX OLINUXINO MICRO running Debian 8 with Kernel 3.4.103 and I'm looking for a reliably working WIFI adapter.

I tried following:

1) Bus 004 Device 002: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT5370 Wireless Adapter

-> it crashes every few days, causing a kernel panic and reboot

2) Bus 004 Device 003: ID 7392:7811 Edimax Technology Co., Ltd EW-7811Un 802.11n Wireless Adapter [Realtek RTL8188CUS]

-> it crashes immediately with kernel panic if working in Hotspot mode and a mobile connects to it

Have some others but they are not supported.

I wonder, if there is any official recommendation for a working WLAN Stick which I can buy today?

with best Regards,
Peter

What image exactly are you using? What is the release #?

Is there a specific reason you are using 3.4.103 image, instead of the latest main line Olimage image?

As i know this was used:

Source: https://github.com/linux-sunxi/linux-sunxi
Commit: 9a1cd034181af628d4145202289e1993c1687db6

Other things are running very stable, except Wifi.

What would you recommend?

Peter

Did you try with Olimex-made 3.4.103 images from this FTP:

ftp://staging.olimex.com/Allwinner_Images/A20-OLinuXino-MICRO/Debian/sd/

There is a good chance RT5370 adapter would work better with Olimex-made images since we've resold RT5370 adapters for quite a while and we try to support our products in our images.
