Hello,

At the begining I would like to highlight that this is my first start with STMP157 and Olinuxino. Went through "Olimage-guide" without any problems got Linux running. Enabled HDMI got Debian wallpaper after a longer reboot. System is running up  8)

Installed image is: STM32MP1-OLinuXino-LIME-bullseye-base-20220413-094751.img

Problems:

1. Chromium browser crashes after startup.

olimex@stm32mp1-olinuxino-lime:~$ chromium

Problem seems to be known it is related to GPU. Tried several options that were search results from Google without imediate solution decided to move on without Chromium.

2. Tried install Firefox with fail. I also get the same fail when trying couple different packages. But for example FTP went through without problems.

olimex@stm32mp1-olinuxino-lime:~$ sudo apt-get install firefox-esr

What I would like to achieve:

Resolve the problem with Debian repositories so I can use "apt-get" without issuess. Working on project that would require fetching loads of packages. I would rather try to avoid situation of building everything. Time is the thing I always lack  :'(

Problem is sorted.

Issue was with system time and date not being set after image install. You can set the date manually but I sugest server synced time & date would be better solution.

Resolution is:

1. Install "systemd-timesyncd"

sudo apt-get install system-timesyncd
After sucessfull install you can check the date and time and if sync is enabled with:

timedatectl
2. Update OLinuXino

sudo apt-get update
Update shall work now (It was one of the things that did not worked previously aswell). After update you will be able to fetch any packages with  "apt-get" that seemed to be not working previously.

I have managed to install the "firefox-esr" for tests. It runs but is super slow in my opinion.

Here I would like to ask two questions:

a.) Does STMP157-OLinuXino-LIME2 board require radiator + fan? I noted the chip is getting quite hot.
b.) Does anyone has idea how to improve speed? Comparing to Raspberry Pi 4 internet browsing is slow slow.

I would really apreciate some comments on my questions. Thanks in advance.

Radiator is not required but can help in prolonged heavy usage or in place with poor ventilation (boxes, etc). Consider small aluminum radiator similar to this:

> Does anyone has idea how to improve speed? Comparing to Raspberry Pi 4 internet browsing is slow slow.

There are a lot of guides online on how to improve browsing experience. However, please notice that the RPi4 main chip is Broadcom BCM2711 and it is much, much faster. STM32MP157 will never match it, especially when it comes to tasks in the GUI.
